Haunting at the Harbor Spooky Kayak Adventure | Saturdays & Sundays in October | times vary | Wailoa River, Hilo | $49
Kayak through the sites and sounds of a scary Halloween tale, on the Wailoa River. Explore a section of the river where ghosts & ghouls may lurk on the river banks around you. A bone chilling, frightening river tour and a story to unfold on your journey. Creepy and ghoulish guides will be there to give you a genuine supernatural, haunted, river experience. We understand that being scared is not for everyone, just bear in mind that wherever there is a trick, there is a treat.
Our Haunting at the Harbor Tours put a spin on our regular Kayak tour, and you’ll be paddling your crafts in a veil of darkness! Plus, there will be spooky tales about the resident ghosts of the river to give you a jump in the night! This adventure is perfect for those looking to mix up their usual Halloween festivities.
You can even dress up as your favorite character, or maybe even a ghoulish ghost! But don’t get spooked, we have buoyancy aids to help you keep safe on the water, and all of our guides are certified life guards.
It’s never too early to start planning for spooky Halloween activities that you and your family can take part in. Of course, there are things like haunted hayrides and haunted houses that you can visit, but why not try something a little outside of the box this year? Something like a haunted kayak tour!

Visit the ghouls and goblins residing behind the scenes of the historic theater. Once a year they come out to run amuck and cause chaos for Hilo’s top haunted house experience.
The performers will not touch you, do not touch them in any manner.

Purchase your tickets in advance for the night you wish to attend. On the night of the event, a line will form curb side in front of the theater. You’ll be unleashed into the Lost Plantation to experience the horrors that await throughout the grounds of the Haunted Palace.

His has performed at the Honolulu Storytelling Festival, the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, the Smithsonian in Washington DC and with Minnesota Public Radio. He has been telling scary stories since he was a young man 30 years ago. Audience members have described his scary stories as “…wonderful jump tales of old.” “A crazy ride that leaves me wanting more.” & “…he made me jump! He scared me!”
